What is the difference between Hypnosis & Meditation?

'I can't stay focused'

'My mind keeps jumping'

'If I relax too much I fall asleep'

Is the Top-3 of comments I hear my clients make when we're discussing listening to a hypnotic audio recording.

And when this happens, I know there is a misconception about what hypnosis is, and what meditation is.

Our mind works with different levels of consciousness: conscious and not-conscious.

The conscious mind knows that it knows something.

It can observe its own thoughts, feelings and responses.

It's just a very small, but key part of our mind, as it makes us humans unique and take control of ourselves on a different dimension.

When we meditate, we train this conscious awareness. It's not about being peaceful or in absolute balance, it's the act of bringing your awareness back to the conscious mind, here and now. Meditation is like bringing your conscious mind to the gym!

Hypnosis works with the subconscious, that is quite the opposite.

The subconscious mind is enormous. And way, way more powerful than the conscious mind. It is the part of our mind that runs all our automatic thoughts and routines.

The subconscious is not depending on our awareness, it is always 'ON', it's always listening and always causing an emotional and physical reaction.

So, it does not depend on your conscious mind wandering or falling asleep. The suggestions that you hear will be absorbed regardless.

When the subconscious 'hears' words of love, freedom, acceptance and empowerment it WILL let it in, and you will, after some repetition, just feel the effects.

Like water that is absorbed by the earth. You don't have to make that happen, it just happens.
